Baido, (insidesomalia.org) - Five Somali government soldiers died in a roadside bomb killed eight Somali and scores of others were wounded.

These soldiers were driving in a Toyota pickup and were returning from a military base in the outskirts of Baidoa town the temporary base of the shaky transitional federal parliament.

The blast destroyed the entire vehicle, and the blast was very earsplitting that it was heard in various parts of the town.

The wounded soldiers were taken to Baidoa town for treatment, and the doctors and the nurse were fully engaged to help the blast victims.

Islamist insurgents from the al Shabaab militia who are battling with the Somali government and its Ethiopian military cronies had vowed to retaliate after a U.S. areal bombardment that killed the leader of Al-Shabab group on 1 st of May 2008 at Dusamareb town in Galgadud region in central Somalia.

The al Shabaab is the militant wing of a sharia courts group that ruled much of southern Somalia for a period of six good months in the year 2006 before being ousted by allied Somali-Ethiopian troops.

Since then they have been at the front position of an Iraq-style insurgency targeting the government and their Ethiopian ally with assassinations, mortar strikes and roadside bombs.
